Dr. Bhanu Krishnan, MD, FACC, is a renowned doctor with a focus on Cardiovascular Disease. Recognized as a Northern VA Magazine Top Doctor in 2020, Dr. Krishnan firmly believes that "Exercise is the best medicine!" and incorporates this philosophy into his approach to patient care.
Dr. Krishnan's journey in medicine began at Madras Medical College in Chennai, India, where she completed her internship in 1982 and earned her Doctor of Medicine degree in 1981. She then pursued a residency in Internal Medicine at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, which was completed in 1989. Further enhancing her expertise, Dr. Krishnan completed a fellowship in Cardiology at SUNY – Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, in 1992.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Krishnan has also held various leadership roles, including serving as Director of the Cardiology Clinic from 1996 – 2000, Director of the Non-Invasive lab at Ben Taub Hospital, and part-time at V.A. Medical Center for Echocardiography. Her contributions to academia include assistant professorships at UTMB, Division of Cardiology in Galveston, TX from 1993 – 2000, and at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX from 1992 – 1993.
Dr. Krishnan holds board certification in Cardiovascular Disease and specializes in Echocardiography, General Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Preventive Cardiology, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Weight Management. She is affiliated with Inova Fairfax Hospital, Inova Loudoun Hospital, and Reston Hospital Center.
As a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Society of Echocardiology (ASE), and the Medical Society of Virginia (MSV), Dr. Krishnan is committed to staying on the cutting edge of cardiovascular health.
